William Stankay works with a variety of clients in the film, advertising & new media industries to create custom musical scores & sound design for their original visual projects. Through his company, Sunfall Records, he utilizes a combination of live instrumentation and innovative sound design to create a unique sonic landscape for each project and collaboration.
Notable scoring work includes Vice's "Designing A Plastic-Free World" campaign for adidas; Powerade's commercial campaign starring NBA player Damian Lillard; trailer music for the Lionsgate film "Deepwater Horizon"; an original score for Joseph Varhola's feature film "A Fancy Piece of Homicide"; and additional music and sound design in collaboration with Jongnic Bontemps for Steven Caple Jr's "The Land" and the original Lifetime movie "Faith Under Fire", starring Toni Braxton.
He recently scored "Blood Memory", a documentary that explores how battles over blood quantum and “best interests” resurface the untold history of America’s Indian Adoption Era, and the ways in which a survivor of this stolen generation returns to heal her Sicangu Lakota community. William created the music for the documentary using his "Earthtones" process, utilizing natural sound and sonic landscapes from the Badlands, Black Hills, Rosebud Reservation and surrounding areas to create the musical tapestry for the film's original score.
